At the first Ethio-Djibouti Fruits and Vegetables Forum which is being held in Addis Ababa on March 25-27, 2022, dozens of Ethiopian Fruits & Vegetables Exporters have agreed to supply more than 20 types of high quality products to major Djiboutian markets, both high-end and the mass markets.
The Business 2 Business Session, organized by the Ethiopian Horticulture Producer Exporters Association, served as an important platform for assessing gaps and developing improved mechanisms to enhance fruit and vegetable exports to Djibouti.
During the forum, Ato Beneyam Ephrem from the Ethiopian Embassy in Djibouti, Mr. Siyad Ali Hassen from the Djibouti Chamber of Commerce, and Ato Tewodros zewdi from the Ethiopian Horticulture Producer Exporters Association outlined schemes to enhance the export of produce to Djibouti, emphasizing the urgent need to strengthen intra-regional trade particularly during the current global food crises.
The delegation from Djibouti is scheduled to visit farms in Bishoftu and Koka in the coming days.
It is to be recalled that the Ethiopian government has launched a 10-year master plan to earn $ 9 billion in foreign trade annually.
